How Khali handles your data.

The short version. Khali doesn’t sell your data, doesn’t require an account, and collects only the minimum anonymous usage data needed to keep the app working. No ad SDKs, no cross-app tracking, no personally identifiable profile.

1. Who we are

Khali is an AI-powered news app that turns each story into a single yes/no question. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your rights. Using Khali means you accept what’s described here — if you don’t, please stop using the app.

2. What we collect

2.1 Information you give us

Questions you ask. When you ask Khali a question about a story, your text is sent to our server and forwarded to OpenAI to generate a response. We don’t permanently store the question or tie it to your identity.
Votes. When you swipe agree or disagree, the vote is recorded anonymously for aggregate counts. No name, email, or device-linked identifier is attached to your vote.

2.2 Information collected automatically

Anonymous device identifier. A random ID generated on first launch, used only for aggregate stats like daily active users. Not linked to your Apple ID, name, email, or any personal information.
Usage analytics. Aggregated counts: stories viewed, categories browsed, time in app, feature taps (e.g. “Reveal Claim”). Used solely to improve the app.
Crash data. If the app crashes, Apple may share a technical crash log with us through App Store Connect. No personal data.

2.3 What we do not collect

Your name, email address, phone number, or any contact information.
Anything that requires account creation or login.
Contacts, photos, camera, microphone, or location.
Activity across other apps or websites.

3. How we use it

To improve the app. Knowing which features and categories are popular helps us prioritize.
To answer your questions. Your prompts are processed in real time and not retained after the response is delivered.
To compute aggregate signals. Vote totals power features like consensus indicators — always aggregated, never individual.

4. Third parties we rely on

OpenAI — powers AI summaries, audio narration, and question answering. Your questions are sent to OpenAI for processing. openai.com/privacy
Supabase — our database and storage. All data is encrypted in transit. supabase.com/privacy
Pexels — provides stock background imagery. No user data is shared with Pexels.

We do not use advertising SDKs, tracking pixels, or cross-app analytics. No Facebook SDK, no Google Analytics, no AdMob.

5. Storage & security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS.
Server data is hosted on reputable cloud infrastructure.
Anonymous usage analytics are retained for up to 90 days, then automatically deleted.
Chat questions are not stored beyond the immediate request → response cycle.

6. Children

Khali is not directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

7. Your rights

Because we don’t collect personal information or require accounts, there is very little data tied to any individual user. You can still:

Ask what we have. Request a summary of any data associated with your device identifier.
Ask us to delete it. We’ll remove any data tied to your device identifier on request.
Opt out at any time. Uninstalling the app removes all locally cached data.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this page from time to time. Significant changes will be announced in-app and reflected in the effective date above. Continued use of Khali after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
